Togolese striker and Tottenham FC forward Emmanuel Adebayor says he isn’t quitting the Togo national team despite losing out to Burkina Faso in the quarter-final of the African Cup of Nations.
Adebayor has had an unstable relationship with the Togolese national side over the last few years. The striker who has played for Arsenal and Real Madrid left the Togo squad in 2010 when Angolan militants fired shots at the team’s bus on its way to the African Cup of Nations in Angola.
He later returned to the fold a few months later and at best has had a rocky relationship with football officials in his country.
‘I’m still young, I’m 29 so whenever my country needs me I’ll be up for it, because I’ve started something and I have to finish it,’ he said.
‘We were stopped in the quarter-finals, maybe next time we’ll be in the final and win it. For me it’s never finished while I have the chance to win something…‘
