Pundits have been asking for such collaborations for sometime. And it’s now happening before our very eyes.
Pop icon 2face Idibia has recorded a duet with Victor Olaiya, one of the oldest surviving highlife greats in Africa.
The collabo, a remix of Olaiya’s mega hit ‘Baby jowo‘, is one of Idibia’s pet projects, and we’re told he and his managers are super excited about the yet-to-be released cut.
On Thursday, both musicians spent the entire day at Olaiya’s Stadium Hotel in Surulere, Lagos to shoot the video under the direction of Kunle Afolayan who told NET it’s his first attempt at shooting a music video.
The video for ‘Baby Jowo remix‘ will feature appearances from Lala Akindoju (who plays the love interest of a young Victor Olaiya, played by his son), 2face Idibia and Victor Olaiya, as well as key celeb cameos.
Afolayan, a multiple award-winning actor and director tells us the project is a big deal for him. ‘Dr Victor Olaiya is a legend, so I’m working with two legends, I feel highly honored. Very happy also to bring my own small creativity to the music industry. I feel excited about it…’
